Where website data is stored
We store your data from web forms and enquiry pages on secure servers based in the UK. This data is deleted regularly. No donation data is ever stored on our website.
Collecting data from donations.
We also collect data that is voluntarily submitted by individuals who make a donation through one of the following ways:
- Through our website
- In response to a fundraising appeal in print
- In response to a Face-to-Face Fundraising Campaign
- In response to a DRTV Ad on television
- As part of a fundraising event
Type of information we collect
The type of information we collect may include personal data which identifies you or can be used to identify or contact you. This includes name, postal or email address, telephone number and other contact information you provide on our online, print or regular giving forms. Such information is only collected from you if you voluntarily submit it to us via these methods.
If you make a donation on our website you will be asked to provide your credit/debit card number, we do not receive these details, they are encrypted using Secure Sockets Layer ("SSL Software") and are transmitted directly to our payment provider WorldNet (Donations).
For once-off donations that come to us in a printed format: All donations are receipted by two individuals and cash or cheques stored in a secure safe until they are banked through our finance department. Donor data is stored on our CRM system and copies of donation form data stored in line with our organisational data retention policy.
Any credit card information submitted on printed forms are destroyed immediately after the donation is processed.
If you set up a direct debit donation we will require your BIC and IBAN numbers. These are stored on our secure CRM system and are necessary for processing donations on a monthly basis with the bank. This information is only available to the Fundraising and Communications team as well as the Finance department.
When using external (3 rd party) companies for fundraising campaigns such as face to face or telecommunications) information is shared from the company to us via a secure FTP and files are password protected. These companies are PCI compliant.
How we use the information you provide
The information you provide, including your marketing preferences, will be processed on our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
The information you provide will be used solely for the purpose for which you provided it. We process personal data you provide to us for the following purposes:
- for processing your online donation;
- for registering your interest in and communicating with you about;
- our services and our work with homeless people
- our fundraising events and activities
- our volunteer opportunities
- any upcoming events and publication launches
- for registering your subscription to a mailing list(s) and E-eNewsletter(s);
- for conducting research and analysis to monitor the performance of our campaigns, appeals and events.

Disclosure of information to third parties
We will not trade your personal details with third parties.
The information received from you may be disclosed to a third party (WorldNet etc.), to allow us to process your donation or purchase and/or provide you with the service you have signed up for. A data processing agreement is in place with third party providers used. All systems are PCI compliant
Once we receive your personal data we take all reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data from loss, misuse, alteration or destruction and to prevent any unauthorised or unlawful disclosure or processing.
Right of access to and updating or deleting your personal data
You can inform us at any time of any changes in your personal data and we will update your personal data accordingly.
