Where website data is stored
We store your data from web forms and enquiry pages on secure servers based in the UK. This data is deleted regularly. No donation data is ever stored on our website.

Collecting data from donations.

We also collect data that is voluntarily submitted by individuals who make a donation through one of the following ways:

  • Through our website
  • In response to a fundraising appeal in print
  • In response to a Face-to-Face Fundraising Campaign
  • In response to a DRTV Ad on television
  • As part of a fundraising event

Type of information we collect

The type of information we collect may include personal data which identifies you or can be used to identify or contact you. This includes name, postal or email address, telephone number and other contact information you provide on our online, print or regular giving forms. Such information is only collected from you if you voluntarily submit it to us via these methods.

If you make a donation on our website you will be asked to provide your credit/debit card number, we do not receive these details, they are encrypted using Secure Sockets Layer ("SSL Software") and are transmitted directly to our payment provider WorldNet (Donations).

For once-off donations that come to us in a printed format: All donations are receipted by two individuals and cash or cheques stored in a secure safe until they are banked through our finance department. Donor data is stored on our CRM system and copies of donation form data stored in line with our organisational data retention policy.

Any credit card information submitted on printed forms are destroyed immediately after the donation is processed.

If you set up a direct debit donation we will require your BIC and IBAN numbers. These are stored on our secure CRM system and are necessary for processing donations on a monthly basis with the bank. This information is only available to the Fundraising and Communications team as well as the Finance department.

When using external (3 rd party) companies for fundraising campaigns such as face to face or telecommunications) information is shared from the company to us via a secure FTP and files are password protected. These companies are PCI compliant.

How we use the information you provide

The information you provide, including your marketing preferences, will be processed on our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

The information you provide will be used solely for the purpose for which you provided it. We process personal data you provide to us for the following purposes:

  • for processing your online donation;
  • for registering your interest in and communicating with you about;
    • our services and our work with homeless people
    • our fundraising events and activities
    • our volunteer opportunities
    • any upcoming events and publication launches
  • for registering your subscription to a mailing list(s) and E-eNewsletter(s);
  • for conducting research and analysis to monitor the performance of our campaigns, appeals and events.

Your rights
You can find out what information we hold about you and ask us not to use any of the information we collect.


Your consent
By submitting your information you consent to the use of that information as set out in this Privacy Policy Statement.

If we change our Privacy Policy Statement, we will post the changes on this page.

Continued use of this website will signify that you agree to any such changes.

Disclosure of information to third parties

We will not trade your personal details with third parties.

We may share your information with selected third parties including:

  • Third parties such as WorldNet, Salesforce, MailChimp, Facebook, EventBrite, Just Giving etc.., to allow us to process your donation and/or provide you with the service you have signed up for.
  • Business partners, suppliers and sub-contractors for the performance of any contract we enter into with them or you.
  • Analytics and search engine providers that assist us in the improvement and optimisation of our site.
  • Where we are required to disclose it in order to comply with any applicable law, a summons, a search warrant, a court or regulatory order, or other statutory requirement. 
  • Advertisers and advertising networks that require the data to select and serve relevant adverts to you and others.  We do not disclose information about identifiable individuals to our advertisers, but we may provide them with anonymised, aggregated information about our users. For example we may use your email address to create a Facebook Custom Audience or a Lookalike Audience. This enables us to show you Depaul content when you visit Facebook. We provide your email address to Facebook to enable them to determine if you are a registered account holder with Facebook. We may also use your email address to create a Lookalike Audience, where targeted ads are sent to people on Facebook who have similar characteristics to people on our Custom Audience list. For Facebook Custom Audience and Lookalike Audience your email is sent in an encrypted format that is deleted by Facebook. There are two ways to prevent this use of your data, you can either contact Depaul, see details below or you can do this via Facebook, see https://www.facebook.com/help/568137493302217. Updating your preferences will not guarantee that you never see Depaul content on social media, since the social media site may select you based on other criteria and without your data having been provided by Depaul.

Where data is transferred to another party, we ensure appropriate technical and organisational safeguards are used to protect your personal data.

Security

Once we receive your personal data we take all reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data from loss, misuse, alteration or destruction and to prevent any unauthorised or unlawful disclosure or processing.

Right of access to and updating or deleting your personal data

You can inform us at any time of any changes in your personal data and we will update your personal data accordingly. Depaul Facebook and Social Media Commenting Policy

The Depaul Ireland Facebook page is a place where we post news about our organisation and communicate with our supporters.  Depaul welcomes comments, questions and feedback from our supporters and members of the public. 

We will endeavour to answer your questions as quickly as we can but an immediate response may not always be possible as staff have many other duties.

Comments by Facebook fans do not represent the official position of Depaul Ireland.

Respect

We ask that you always treat the other people on the page with respect.  We welcome constructive criticism and respectful debate but do not allow abusive comments.

Please keep comments on topic.  

We reserve the right to delete comments that are off-topic, offensive, inaccurate or potentially libellous. 

Any comments that contain the names of or personal information about Depaul staff and service users of Depaul will be deleted to protect their privacy. 

Commenters who repeatedly leave inappropriate comments or who derail conversations with off-topic comments will be blocked.

Repeatedly posting the same comment multiple times is spamming and comments of this nature will be deleted.  Commenters who persist in spamming will be blocked. 

Copyright

Please do not violate copyright by posting copy protected materials on the Depaul Facebook wall. 

Spam

Facebook will sometimes hide comments if it thinks that they contain spam.  Comments that are very long or contain multiple links or email addresses will sometimes be perceived as spam.  We check the page for this regularly and will try to unmark any comments that have been incorrectly marked as spam.
