Twelve years ago, Cathy saw a man about to throw a plastic bag into the river. She could see there was something inside, a tiny wriggling thing, struggling for its life.
Furious, she grabbed the bag, and inside was Gizmo – a tiny, scruffy, week-old pup who lit up Cathy’s heart.
Cathy has been through more than most people could imagine.
But through it all, one thing never left her side. Her dog, Gizmo.
When Cathy became homeless, Gizmo did too. For many people experiencing homelessness, having a pet can make finding support even harder. But it also provides something vital:
That is why your support matters so much. Because thanks to people like you, Cathy and Gizmo were able to stay together and find safety through Depaul’s services.
A hot meal and a safe place to sleep can change a night. It takes more than that to change a life.
Right now, people across the island of Ireland are facing homelessness with nowhere to turn. Many are dealing with trauma, addiction, and mental health challenges while trying to rebuild their lives.
Your kindness can be the turning point for someone facing homelessness today.
Please give what you can and help turn shelter into a home.
