Migrant Homeless Action Team
“I was living from day to day not knowing what to do and they helped me to find a better place to live. I was worried about my children and the impact homelessness would have on them in later life”
This community based service covers Dublin areas.
Depaul’s Migrant Homeless Action Team (MHAT) supports people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and are not from Ireland so therefore have limited entitlements to support for whatever their individual reason. The team help single men, women and families who are homeless in Dublin.
The MHAT team provides case management support focusing on resettlement and community engagement and integration. Acting as a referral agent and interpreting service for people to access specialised support relating to housing, health, addiction, training and employment.
Support is tailored to individual needs, which means duration of time we offer support can be flexible. As an example, we may work with a family for a month, a year, or longer; similarly we may work with an individual for a week, for 3 months, or for half a year.
For individual migrant male clients, referral to our service is facilitated through completing the MHAT referral form. You can fill this out with the help of your support worker in any service you attend. The form can be requested by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Migrant families currently can only be referred to MHAT through direct referral by Dublin Region Homeless Executive. Regrettably we are not in a position to take external family referrals.
