Stella Maris was the first service of its kind in Northern Ireland and was set up in conjunction with Helm Housing Association, now Radius Housing, in September 2005.
This project was set up to help people with entrenched alcohol issues who were rough sleeping in Belfast and works on the dual principles of harm reduction and low threshold, meaning we work with people in a way that encourages them to make more positive choices in relation to their addiction issues.
Stella Maris provides accommodation for up to 23 homeless people with long-term alcohol and polysubstance support needs. Couples can be considered for accommodation. Everyone living in Stella Maris has a dedicated keyworker who supports them with their addiction through alcohol management support and planning. Service users receive support that meets their emotional and physical needs. Further to this service users receive support with their practical & social needs such as financial management, taking responsibility, and building social networks. Service users also benefit from specialist in-reach services in support of physical, emotional & practical needs. Remove any reference to residents
