Birch Haven opened its doors in November 2020. The service was duly named after The Birch Tree, a Celtic symbol of new beginnings, a highly adaptive and powerful metaphor for renewal, strength and stability.
Birch Haven, the first service of its kind in the Republic of Ireland, provides supported accommodation to 13 single women and their children. It is a drug and alcohol free project where an emphasis is placed on developing skills to help families live independently. It is the next step in the recovery process working towards an independent life free from addiction. Families are encouraged to cook their own meals and manage their own accommodation to develop their independent living skills, seeking help and support in the process from the project staff.
The objective is to support these families safe transition back into the community.
This service is recovery-orientated which is communal and therapeutic in nature.
