History:

Mater Dei has been supporting vulnerable families since 2006 and was Depaul’s first accommodation based service in Northern Ireland. Originally Atlantic House Depaul took over management of this family service in partnership with Newington Housing Association.

What we do:

Mater Dei provides accommodation with support to 13 families at any one time. Support is based on individual family needs with a robust support plan being jointly developed with the family to incorporate realistic and achievable goals and outcomes. Families are afforded the time and space to address the issues that led to their homelessness.

A dedicated child support worker provides a weekly calendar of events that ensures all children are supported to feel at home in their new surroundings and have fun experiences. Families can also access Depaul’s Family Floating Support Service while staying in Mater Dei.

Where we operate:

Mater Dei family service is situated in North Belfast.

Partners:

Supporting People, Newington Housing AssociationBBC Children In Need.

Referrals:

Mater Dei accepts referrals from the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, out of hours referrals from Social Services can be accepted on an emergency basis only.
