Homeless charity announces appointment of new CEO

David Carroll becomes new CEO of Depaul

Thursday, 29th of August. Homeless charity Depaul have announced the appointment of David Carroll to the role of Chief Executive Officer. Following an open application process David Carroll was appointed with immediate effect. David has previously held the position of Director of Services, Housing and Development within Depaul and has been part of the organisation for over 10 years.

David has been instrumental in the expansion of Depaul’s services, in particular Depaul’s new housing association and its recent work with asylum seekers. David is a qualified social worker and has been working in the field of homelessness and homeless service provision for eighteen years.

The Chair of the Board of Trustees John Murphy said; “David has been successful in the appointment following a rigorous recruitment process. We are delighted David is taking on the leadership of Depaul at this important time within the Homeless sector in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.”

Speaking on his recent appointment David Carroll said;

“It is a great honour to be appointed CEO of Depaul. It means a lot to me, particularly given the homeless crisis we find ourselves in at the minute. The issue of homelessness has grown exponentially over the last number of years and I feel there is a duty on all of us to renew our efforts and counter any fatigue in relation to this issue.

“Depaul has built a reputation on working with the most vulnerable in our society and has pioneered and led on this work with those finding themselves in the most difficult of circumstances.  It will be one of my key goals to ensure that those with most difficult of problems are not forgotten in the development of Government and local authority housing and homelessness policy on both sides of the border.

As well as through positive engagement with policy makers, statutory partners, other NGO’s and our service users I very much intend to further and enhance the Depaul reputation of innovation and commitment in the objective of ending homelessness and improving lives.
